SUMMARY:Falling Fruit: Community Harvest Maps
DESCRIPTION:Join us as JP Goguen of FallingFruit.org provides us with a history of the organization and their community driven harvest maps. You’ll learn more about what’s growing around you and how Falling Fruit keeps their maps updated. Goguen will also provide a demo of the site/app and answer member questions.\nLaunched in 2013 out of Boulder\, Colorado\, as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit\, this open-source project offers an interactive global map tracking over 1.7 million urban food sources—from fruit trees and nuts to herbs and other edible plants—across thousands of cities worldwide. By combining municipal tree inventories\, community garden records\, and crowdsourced user submissions\, it makes finding local food easy whether you are browsing on the web or using the official iOS and Android apps.\nFor new members\, our Zoom Interest Group meetups occur on the last Tuesday of each month. We have a different topic each month.\nWe’ll meet on Tuesday\, October 27th at at 6:30 CST on ZOOM or by phone. The zoom link will be sent out Tuesday morning!\nParticipants will be able to ask questions in the chat and we’ll have discussions throughout the session.\nThere is no charge for NAFEX members\, who will automatically receive an email invitation with the ZOOM link and call-in information before the event. NAFEX members can also find the ZOOM link and call-in numbers on our Interest Groups page on the day of the event.\nAll of our interest group meetings are recorded and can be viewed 24/7 through the member portal.\nNot sure if your membership is expired or need to renew? Check and renew today. Use your email address to try and login to our website. If your membership has expired\, you’ll be prompted to renew.
